Hydroponic cultivation is a modern and effective method for growing indoor plants and vegetables, but it requires suitable products to maximize yields. This is where Fertiroots® (FR) and Fertiessential® (FE) come into play. These complete liquid biostimulants provide everything your plants need, in addition to a growth and flowering fertilizer, whether you are using peat, coconut fiber, perlite, or working with advanced hydroponic systems such as NFT, EBB AND FLOW, or drip irrigation.

Tips for Successful Hydroponic Cultivation

One of the challenges of hydroponic cultivation lies in the precise management of the nutrient solution, which must be adjusted according to the type of plant, its growth stage, and environmental conditions. Be sure to regularly adjust pH, temperature, humidity, and watering frequency to provide your plants with the best possible conditions.

Note: Do not overload your plants with nutrients. More is not always better.

To successfully carry out your hydroponic cultivation project, Fertisym also offers a personalized consulting service, in English or French, to guide you throughout the process.

The most vehement criticism of these changes comes from the Grain Producers of Quebec (PGQ), whose revenue of $1.3 billion is notably linked to seeds treated with neonicotinoids.

Agricultural yields would only be affected in 5 to 10% of cases, according to studies conducted by the Grain Research Center (CÉROM), whose board of directors is also chaired by Mr. Overbeek. Predictive models have also been developed by CÉROM to inform producers’ decisions based on the level of risk in the fields.

Quebec plans to invest $14 million to reduce the use of these pesticides and facilitate adaptation to these new measures, as stated in the communiqué released by Minister Melançon.

The major oversight in this strategy remains glyphosate, the active ingredient in 44% of pesticide sales in Quebec. Sales could continue to rise if atrazine is simply replaced with glyphosate, notes a scientist from the David Suzuki Foundation. “There are ways to do things differently; we need to invest in finding better practices and reduce pressure on our ecosystems.”
